Rodents
Rodents are among the hardest to control. They have flexible bodies and can swim in sewer pipes and onto toilets. Rats are able to infest areas that provide food, water, and shelter. Mice are smaller in size compared to rats. Much like rats, Mice are able to infest and invade areas that provide similar presence. They are able to fit into holes as small as a 5-centavo coin.
- Norway Rats
Also known as sewer rats, Norway Rats are the most common species found in the environment. They are characterized by their large size and their brown to dark colour. Norway Rats are good climbers, swimmers, and crawlers. They can fit into holes as small as a 25 centavo coin. They are found in warehouses, factories, farms, and even restaurants. Signs of presences include droppings, foot prints, and rat bites. - Roof Rats
Roof rats are characterized by their dark brown or black colour, which are white underneath. Much like Norway Rats, they are good climbers and jumpers but are poor as swimmers. Their presence can be determined by the similar signs as Norway Rats. They have a preference for moist places. They have a larger appetite than most rats. Roof Rats are also known in history as Ship Rats, hence the cause of the “Black Death” or the Bubonic Plague Pandemic that occured in 1348. - House Mice
House Mice, from the name itself are found in homes and are the most common household rodents. They invade homes and much like its larger counterparts, infest and breeds on any place that provides food, water, and shelter. Signs of presence include droppings, bites, and the smell of urine. They can produce rapidly with females being able to produce after 2 months of age.
